    AURORA NEWS @ HOTEL RANGA

We have been getting more & more consistent auroras recently as the sun goes into a more active phase of Solarcycle 24. The other night - as I had previously predicted in my Blog - we had quite a stunning auroral display visible through the light cloud coverage we had overhead. Two of my photographer buddies were at the hotel on Tuesday the 16th of February. The above photo was taken by Halldor Kolbeins. My other buddy Sigursteinn Baldursson caught an interesting time lapse shoot which you can see here on Youtube.

I expect more and more activity as we approach the equinox and it will be appearing well into April too. We are the closest destination with direct flights from the UK, the Eastern coast of the US, Holland, Germany and France to be able to see this one of natures most magnificent displays. And the weather here is on average a good 10 to 20° warmer than the average temperature at other northen lights destinations. So you don´t have to freeze your bum off while watching it here. And it is always visible directly at the hotel - eliminating the uncertain process of "chasing the northern lights". And we got plenty of things to do here in the daytime too.  So if you want to see the northern lights --- take a seat, buckle up and fly to Iceland --- cause we are definitely now heading into "The Age of Aurora"!

    Cheers

    Bob Borealis
