After opening in July 2005, Hotel Highland is the only hotel of real standard operating in the interior of the Icelandic Highlands. Unique in itself, it is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature yet also be provided with all modern facilities that one may not expect to encounter so far off the beaten track.
The hotel, graded as class IV by Icelandic Farm Holidays, has 2 suites, 2 family suites and 16 double rooms with twin beds. All rooms of course with bathroom facilities. Also adjacent to the hotel are four additional apartments and 17 double rooms (Cat - I) with sleeping bag accommodations that are considered part of The Hrauneyjar Highland Center. Hotel Highland lies only 1.4 kilometres from The Hrauneyjar Highland Center – 150 km from Reykjavik.
The hotel is also an excellent place for meetings and conferences – especially for teambuilding adventures. The upgraded conference room seats up to 60 people in different arrangements and is equipped with all the modern facilities. The hotel is within walking distance of the Hrauneyjarfoss Power Plant and the falls and rapids of Hrauneyjarfoss. The Hotel is open from June 15 to September 20 for individuals and all year for groups.
